Inupiaq Foundation
For Disadvantaged Women and Children
The Inupiaq Foundation for Disadvantaged Women and Children’s mission is to “Create a world where indigenous families can thrive.”
Building a Brighter Future for Indigenous Families
The Inupiaq Foundation for Disadvantaged Women and Children (IFDWC) is dedicated to creating a world where indigenous families, especially women and children, can thrive. Rooted in the culture and traditions of the North Slope Borough, our foundation understands firsthand the struggles faced by rural communities. With compassion and commitment, we raise funds to build homes, support educational initiatives, and provide essential resources for those in need.
Our Mission
At the heart of our foundation lies a simple yet powerful mission: to provide disadvantaged women and children with the tools and support they need to overcome hardship and build a better life.
We believe that every child deserves safety, every mother deserves dignity, and every family deserves hope. Through our work, we strive to create a lasting impact in the lives of indigenous families who have been affected by poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health challenges.
Why Our Work Matters?
Life in the remote areas of Alaska’s North Slope can be incredibly challenging. The harsh climate, isolation, and limited access to resources make daily life a struggle for many families. For women and children experiencing the added burdens of domestic violence, addiction, and poverty, the challenges are even greater. At IFDWC, we not only recognize these hardships—we live among them. Our staff and volunteers come from these communities and have an intimate understanding of the needs, hopes, and dreams of those we serve.
What We Do
The Inupiaq Foundation for Disadvantaged Women and Children focuses on three primary areas of support:

Building Houses
Creating safe shelters where families can heal and grow.

Protecting Humanity
Standing against hardship to uphold dignity and hope.

Saving Lives
Creating safe shelters where families can heal and grow.
These programs are designed to address immediate needs while also creating long-term solutions that empower families and strengthen communities.
